The Sri Lankan Navy seized about 71 million rupees of marijuana from three suspects in Kerala

The Sri Lankan Navy seized around 237 kg and 500 g of cannabis from Kerala along with 3 suspects and a boat during a special operation in the seas north of Point Pedro The Northern Naval Command’s special operation in the seas north of Point Pedro resulted in the interception of a suspect boat, driving towards the coast loaded with 2 bags of Kerala cannabis. During this operation, too, the Navy took the boat and 3 suspects on board into custody. Based on a lead from the suspects, the Navy and Coast Guard conducted an additional search of the sea area and found 6 more bags of Kerala cannabis that had been thrown overboard by the suspects. As a result, the entire operation resulted in the seizure of around 237 kg and 500 g of Kerala cannabis in 8 bags. The Kerala cannabis shipment is believed to have been brought onto the International Maritime Border Line (IMBL) boat to smuggle it to the island. It is now believed that the street value of this cannabis loot is approximately 71 million rupees.
