Yemen- Yemeni Economic Crisis is Attributed to Houthi Militias’ Iron Grip on the Central Bank

Aden- Yemen 04/12/2020 Yemeni economic experts illustrated that the dire humanitarian conditions and the economic woes are attributed to Houthi militias’ iron grip over the countries resource, particularly on the monetary reserves in the central bank. Houthi militias depleted the country’s resources leading to a depreciation in the currency’s value. Experts made it clear that addressing the disastrous reality is contingent upon regaining stability by a political settlement. It is worth mentioning that UN Secretary-General, António Guterres declared that Yemen is on the edge of an unprecedented starvation dilemma that would kill millions if no action was taken
