Following an explosion in Taleqan city, the provincial capital of Takhar province in northeastern Afghanistan, two Taliban military personnel were killed and three others were wounded, according to local sources.

The sources familiar with the incident said that the explosion happened at around 8 o’clock on Saturday night, October 22, in the Shahidi road of Taleqan city’s police district 3.

The explosion was brought on by a sticky mine that was embedded inside a Taliban Ranger vehicle, according to sources, which detonated and killed the Taliban members.

The Taliban government’s security authorities in Takhar province confirmed the veracity of the incident, but they asserted no one was injured as a result of the explosion.

A second explosion that occurred at the same time in the Taliban government’s Police Chief Office building in the Ishkemesh district of the same province resulted in the deaths of five Taliban members.

Five military soldiers of the Taliban government, including a prominent commander of the Taliban in the province, were killed in the explosion, which, according to the sources, also happened on Saturday night.

Despite the Taliban’s claims that the group has managed to keep Afghanistan secure, some of their own members and leaders have been killed since they seized control of the government in the attacks and explosions.
