According to a report issued by World Vision International organization of the UN, the difficult economic conditions in Iraq have led to a 40 percent increase in the poverty rate among children.

The UN report warned of an increase in cases of violence against children and the deprivation of about 7.4 million children of their right to education. For his part, the head of the Children of Kurdistan Organization said that the actual poverty rate among Iraqi children is higher than what was stated in the report, accounting for 60 percent.

Fifteen percent of them work in the Kurdistan region, representing 10,750 children, noting that about 10 percent of the region’s children are exposed to violence.

In its report, the UN indicated that the continuation of these conditions would have worrying repercussions, especially concerning the protection and well-being of children and the provision of health care services at the state level.
