Thousands in Istanbul flock to Sultan Ahmed Mosque for group iftar

Thousands of Turks and residents of Istanbul head to the Sultan Ahmed Mosque during Ramadan for a group iftar as an annual tradition.

Many families and residents in Istanbul are keen to come to the ancient mosque for worship on Qadr Night, Arabic for the Night of Destiny, which is one of the most blessed nights in Ramadan for Muslims, full of blessings and God’s mercy.

Sultan Ahmed Mosque has one of the largest squares. It was built in the Ottoman era and is characterized by its six minarets.
