Residents of the Samut Prakan Province have been suffering from an “alarming” level of fine dust into the air, as commuters and workers in transportation have been hit the most by the air pollution that is getting worse by the day.

Residents of the industrial city reported that what makes the situation worse is the fact that the city is crammed and the amount of car emissions is getting higher due to the increase of the city population and the increase in the number of factories.

They demanded stricter controls and governmental supervision of factories, as they expressed health fears from factory emissions. Many cases of dizziness and headaches have been reported because of the coarse air conditions.

Phachara Sasichachayamon, who is the head of the Samut Prakan Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office said the authorities are well aware of the gravity of the situation and the issue of PM 2.5 dust and said that a study indicates the main problem of dust is not caused by factories, but by car emissions.
