Garbage collection has been halted once again due to the shortage of fuel in some parts of Colombo City, the commercial capital and largest city of Sri Lanka by population.

Deputy Mayor of the Colombo Municipal Council M.T. Iqbal said that garbage collection in some areas has come to a standstill as the garbage trucks have run out of fuel.

Colombo Municipal Council Ruling party member Raju Bhasker urged bringing diesel from somewhere and picking up the garbage as they have contracted with entities to solve the issue. The city had suffered from the same issue earlier this month.
