Displaced women in Abyan work for low wages to support their families

0 83

The difficult economic conditions in Yemen have forced displaced women of various ages to work in the banana farms in the Abyan Governorate, southern Yemen, for more than 12 hours a day, for a low wage that does not exceed 1000 riyals (one dollar).

Most of the working women are displaced from the Hodeidah governorate, western Yemen. They work on mowing weeds around the banana tree for long hours for so little wage that it is not enough to buy a meal.
