Prime Minister Hun Sen has said he is reconsidering the ban on the 10 African countries entering Cambodia.
The PM stated that his change in attitude to the lifting of the ban is to avoid discriminatory behavior against these African countries.
The Prime Minister stated that the 10 countries do not currently have direct flights to Cambodia, but in the event of a transit passenger arriving in Cambodia, officials stationed at the international airport must strengthen PCR testing measures.
He called for urgent discussions between the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Secretary of State for Civil Aviation, the Ministry of Tourism and other stakeholders.
If all relevant parties are in agreement, the Royal Government will announce the end of the travel ban.
Visitors from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Angola, and Zambia are currently banned from entering Cambodia under a decision by the Ministry of Health issued late on the evening of Monday 29th November.
The ban also applies to travelers who have visited these countries in the last 3 weeks.
