A military officer was killed after a car crashed into his motorcycle in Stung Treng.

The tragic accident happened on November 6 at around 6 p.m. The collision took on National Road at Reachanukol Village, Stung Treng.

The deceased is identified as Nay Chenda, male, 23 years old. The deceased’s residence was located at Kbal Romeas Commune, Sesan District, Stung Treng. Chenda was a military officer from 128th Division Virak 281.

Chenda was riding his motorcycle with the license plate Phnom Penh 1HS 7907. Due to the lack of witnesses, authorities are speculating that the military officer must have been driving at a high speed before the motorcycle and car collided with each other.

The body of the military officer was handed over to the family for funerary rites, while the motorcycle was brought to the Land Traffic Office of Stung Treng Provincial Police.

Over the Water Festival, authorities reported that at least 22 people died and 44 were injured in traffic accidents. Authorities are hoping motorcyclists and other vehicle drivers would understand the importance of following traffic rules and the danger of speeding.
