Three boys sustain serious injuries in a UXO explosion in Cambodia

Three boys have been critically injured in Koh Kong province’s Sre Ambel district when a UXO they played with exploded.

The explosion occurred at 2:50 pm on Saturday in Chi Tres village, Andoung Toek commune when the three boys tending their cattle in the field came across the 60 mm mortar shell and played with it, police said.

Police identified the injured as Lou Luy, 12, Say Sovannara, 13, and Chin Eng, 13. They all lived in Andoung Toek commune.

The boys were admitted to Andoung Toek commune health center on Saturday, but because of their critical injuries, they were transferred to Sre Ambel district referral hospital, police said.
