Duo arrested for smuggling Vietnamese into Cambodia

Police arrested two men who brought in more than 10 Vietnamese into Cambodia through Tboung Khmum.

The two men are brokers and they were arrested after bringing in 16 Vietnamese nationals into the country through the border in Ponhea Krek District in Tboung Khmum. Police arrested them on October 18 at around 4 p.m.

The brokers were identified as: Tea Chi Chheng, a 36-year-old man, from Trapeang Phlong Village, Trapeang Phlong Commune, Ponhea Krek district, and the other is Khuth Rany, male, 22 years old, from Som Village, Krek Commune, Ponhea Krek District. The two men were charged with smuggling in 16 Vietnamese (including 4 women) across the border.

They were discovered by the 615th border Protection Corp. The two men together with the Vietnamese were able to make their escape but ultimately failed after the border patrol forces captured them.

The 16 Vietnamese were deported back to their home country by the police. The two men were smuggled to the police station for case building before they will be sent to court.
