Experts: Forming a Specialized Court for ISIS Atrocities will Lay the Ground for Prosecuting its Members

Experts in the Iraqi security affairs illustrated that Baghdad is moving forward in constituting a court specialized in ISIS crimes. The parliament is drafting a law for instituting such a court that would view ISIS crimes and then prosecute perpetrators. Experts indicated the such a law would be of paramount importance in setting a database that documents ISIS crimes and would be utilized as a reference in international courts, given the fact that ISIS atrocities weren’t confined to Iraq but spread into many countries around the world. The ministry of justice’s latest report which was issued in February revealed that the total number of capital punishments since 2015 reached 7935. Only 327 out of which were implemented
