on Saturday Myanmar security forces killed more than 80 anti-coup protesters in a town near Yangon.

Witnesses and domestic media said the troops used rifle grenades to disrupt the protests in Bago. The Association for Aid to Political Prisoners (AAPP) and the Burmese Instant News portal said 82 people were killed.

According to reports, soldiers used heavy weapons to surround the residents from early Friday morning. According to the Myanmar Times, they took the dead into a pagoda and quoted a leader of a protest group who spoke with witnesses.
