A market in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya was closed on Saturday, and at least 17 people were diagnosed with Covid-19 at a grilled shrimp restaurant, including the families of its owners and their employees.

The Infectious Disease Committee extended the closure of the province’s central farmers’ market for another seven days on Tuesday, until next Tuesday, killing can be carried out for disinfection.

Governor Panu Yamsri said that during the long-term closure, the Ayutthaya provincial government organization that owns the market will thoroughly disinfect houses, including sewers.

Taweesilp Visanuyothin, representative of the Covid-19 Target Management Center, said that a restaurant employee was first infected by a relative who visited a dangerous area in Bangkok on April 11. Subsequently, 16 other people in the restaurant were also infected.

On the Bangkok bound side of Highway 32 in Tambon Hantra, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya district, the farmers market covers an area of ​​about 10 rai. Dr. Taweesilp said there are about 50 stores.
