Today marks the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, which happened as a result of the war between Turkey and Armenia on April 24, 1915, and killed over a million civilians. The Armenians of Syria revived the memorial in the presence of the Deputy Archbishop of North and East Syria, as well as many Armenians from Qamishli, and in the meantime, the Armenian Church had collected some of the remains of several Armenians bodies, who died during the massacres, as the Armenians call them in Deir Ezzor Governorate, and they were brought on the day of this memorial. This coincided with US President Joe Biden’s announcement of his intention to recognize the massacres against Armenians as genocide.
