The Prime Minister of Thailand said that Thailand is waiting for an offer from Pfizer in the United States before the country can purchase 5-10 million doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine that will be on the market from July to December this year.
General Prayut Chan-o-cha said on Tuesday that the National Institute of Vaccines is in the process of purchasing and negotiating the purchase and is awaiting offers and conditions from the Manhattan-based company.
“I am not sure [whether Thailand will accept it], but if all goes well, the conversion can deliver 5-10 million doses in July. The government has not delayed,” he said in the briefing.
He added that he has responded to some calls, especially those from social media users, asking them to purchase vaccines from manufacturers other than Sinovac Biotech which has already purchased the company (AstraZeneca and CoronaVac).
