As traffic congestion worsens, HCM City Airport has set up more check-in counters and security scanners

The Tân Sơnht International Airport in HCM is increasing its staff, establishing early check-in counters, and using all available security scanners to reduce congestion on site.

The security check area at Tân Nhht Airport was continuously congested, causing flight delays and collisions with many passengers. Some people missed the flight because they had to queue for hours for security checks.

Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) and Tan Xin International Airport (TIA) stated on April 19 that the operating capacity granted by the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam allows up to 1,728 people per hour at the security gate in one hall and Hall B can accommodate up to 1,584 people per hour.

However, during the peak dispatch from April 14 to April 19, the hourly passenger capacity of Hall A was 2,100 to 2,400 people, which was 25% to 30% more than the designed capacity.

Many flights that use large planes and depart at the same time between 5:30 and 9:30 in the morning have also increased the congestion.

In addition, many passengers are carrying multiple carry-on luggage, which extends the time required to scan items.

In addition, at least 10% of passengers who have gone through security check will be further randomized to make the traffic more congested.

This was carried out under the direction of the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam, which requested enhanced security inspections. However, in order to reduce congestion, TIA has stopped implementing this security check.

In the case of concentrated takeoffs and landings in the morning and afternoon causing congestion at the airport, a representative of Vietnam Airlines said that the landing transfer slot was approved by the Vietnam Aviation Administration.

The flights are scattered throughout the day, and the HCMCity-HàNội flight will have a new flight every 30 minutes.

However, due to local travel demand (mainly in the morning and peak scheduling), congestion often occurs during these time periods
