Political experts and members of Iraqi political parties emphasized the need for the Iraqi government to be set to fulfill all its responsibilities and to provide a safe environment for fair elections to meet international standards. This comes as the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs addressed the UN Security Council, to ensure international oversight of the early parliamentary elections set on October 10th, amid the government’s promises to perform a fair electoral procedure far from the power of weapons and under international supervision. The Iraqi government plans to train 20, 000 local experts and observers, as well as including local specialized organizations and representatives of parties and currents participating in the electoral competition.
