In the Raqqa countryside, corn planting became widespread after the area was liberated from ISIS’ grip. For Farmers, planting corn is much more affordable compared to cotton and grains, not to mention that it doesn’t necessitate a lot of labor. The high demand for corn has raised the price of the corn kilo, as in the previous year it was 75 Syrian pounds per kilogram, compared to now 425 Syrian pounds.
