The Independent High Electoral Commission revealed that it received a total of 433 registration applications from different parties. 225 parties were approved, while 63 applications were received from newly established parties. Rejected applications amounted to 128 while those who withdrew their applications reached 17. The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’ member, Abbas Sabhat illustrated that it is improbable for parties to agree on holding the elections in the due date given the economic and political crises that engulfed Iraq.
