Thousands farewell to the Algerian chief of staff at his funeral

Thousands of Algerians gathered on Wednesday for the funeral of the chief of staff, Ahmed Gaid Saleh, who was suddenly the result of a heart attack on Monday at the age of 79 after he drew up state policy in response to popular protests that continued throughout the year demanding a comprehensive change of the ruling elite.
