Hundreds of Algerians marched in Algiers late on Wednesday, stepping up pressure on the authorities to cancel a December 12 presidential election, chanting "No elections, no elections" as security forces stepped in to disperse them.

Some opposition protesters in Algeria said the vote on the presidential election would not be fair and hung garbage bags in places reserved for political posters of the five candidates' campaigns in the December 12 elections.
