Putin , Russia’s plan to deploy nuclear weapons in Belarus

According to Russian state media, Putin stated that stationing nuclear weapons in Belarus would not breach nuclear non-proliferation agreements and drew a comparison to the US deploying its weapons in Europe. He also clarified that Moscow would not relinquish control of its arms to Minsk. The Belarusian government is a strong ally of the Kremlin and backs the invasion of Ukraine.

During an interview with Russian state television on Saturday, President Putin revealed that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko had been discussing the possibility of deploying tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. Putin stated that this was not unusual, pointing out that the United States has been deploying its weapons in allied countries for decades.
