War, high oil prices exacerbate struggle of taxi owners in Taiz

The number of taxis on the Yemeni streets of Taiz has decreased dramatically due to the eight-year civil war and high fuel prices.

Passengers tend to use motorbikes to get around due to their lower costs compared to taxis as well as the ease of moving between streets, especially during crowded times.

Yellow cabs were used to transport people from Taiz to the Al-Hawban area, but the siege blocked the roads connecting them, leaving only about 5 kilometers in the city.
