Research by the National Union of Tunisian Women (UNFT) showed that the number of women victims of violence reported to the union rose to 846 between January and October 2022, compared to the previous year.
The research, titled “Even in my work, I am not safe,” indicated that 38% of gender-based violence occurred in the public sector, and 10% in the private sector. The report indicated that the union was informed of a total of 61 cases.
Women working in government institutions reported two cases per month, for a total of 23 victims. The most common types of abuse were moral, consisting of bullying, as well as denial of employment rights, and sexual harassment.
