Lebanese parliament failed to elect a president for the republic in its seventh session held today Thursday in the capital Beirut as the stance of political blocs did not change.
A total of 119 deputies voted in the first round of the session, which witnessed 50 empty votes, 42 for Michel Moawad, 8 for New Lebanon, 6 for Issam Khalifa, 1 for Badri Daher, 2 for Ziyad Baroud, and one ballot paper was canceled.
Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri adjourned the session in the second round after the quorum was lost, and the eighth session was set for next Thursday.
