Interior Minister, Istanbul Mayor visit Taksim Square after the blast

Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu and Istanbul Mayor Akramoglu visited Taksim Square to follow up on the situation after the explosion that occurred on Istiklal Street in Istanbul, which left at least 6 dead and 53 wounded.

Turkish forces arrested a woman accused of committing the bombing.

“Elements trying to undermine the Turkish state will not achieve their goal, we will expose the perpetrators of the bombing and they will be punished, terrorism will not achieve its goal,” said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a televised speech after the bombing.

Speaking to A24, a tourist who witnessed the blast in Taksim Square described the scene as terrifying.
