The ninth session of the Iraq Reading Festival kicked off on Saturday on the eastern bank of the Tigris River, in the center of the capital, Baghdad. The organizing committee stated that this initiative aims to activate the minds of Iraqis and integrate them into society through reading.
The ninth session of the festival was held in Baghdad and six other governorates: Basra, Mosul, Maysan, Anbar, Diwaniyah and Diyala.
The festival, entitled “I am an Iraqi, I read” was attended by a large number of visitors of all ages, including those interested in cultural, literary and political affairs.
It included many exhibitions of paintings and pictures, in addition to concerts, theater performances and songs for children to encourage reading and education.
