Handicrafts industry, source of livelihood for Yemenis to fight poverty

Traditional crafts and handicrafts are vital in Yemeni society, as they are the most prominent economic factors effective in combating and eliminating unemployment, thus alleviating poverty, especially in rural villages.

Mufid Taha spreads his handicrafts on one of the streets of Sheikh Othman district in Aden to sell them.

Taha says demand is increasing for his handicrafts which are alternatives to many daily items people need, at affordable prices available for everyone.

Taha buys these handicrafts from different villages in Aden and other governorates, which are handmade by poor families who sell their work to fight poverty.
