Many displaced students in Al-Bareen camp in Taiz governorate, southwestern Yemen, have lost their opportunity for education, as they did not find a place in the camp’s schools. Schools lack qualified teaching staff and educational supplies, as classrooms are crowded with students who do not have seats and sit on the floor to receive their education.
The director of the executive unit in the camp, Bassam Al-Hamidi, told the A24 reporter that there are about 400 children in the camp, some of whom study in the only small school in the camp with simple capacities, and the rest did not enrolled in school due to overcrowding. He pointed to the poor educational and health conditions in the camp, which includes about 2,500 families.
