One child has died and two more people are missing due to floods that have affected 14 neighborhoods in the municipality of Bosconia, in the Colombian department of Cesar, in the east of the country, according to the official balance.

For the moment the causes of the flooding are unknown, although it is speculated that rainwater accumulated in lagoons formed in mountainous areas, since Bosconia is located in a depression zone.

“The streets of Bosconia were turned into rivers, the economic losses for the merchants are incalculable,” said the president of the National Union of Merchants Bosconia section, Milton Cotamo. “The water damaged many residences and commercial establishments. Help and solidarity with the community is needed. It is necessary to join efforts to rebuild our population”, he appealed.

The authorities have already decreed the manifest urgency and public calamity to facilitate the planning of urgent attention to the victims.
