Australia has launched a new project, reaffirming its ongoing support for Cambodia’s health sector.

The launch of the second phase of Health Equity and Quality Improvement (HEQIP-2) project in Phnom Penh was presided over by Mam Bunheng, Minister of Health, Hem Vanndy, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Pablo Kang, Australian Ambassador to Cambodia.

Representatives from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), German Embassy in Cambodia, the World Bank, and Global Financing Facility for Women and Girls also joined the event.

According to the Australian Embassy, it is a commitment of AUD30 million for the new phase of HEQIP.

Pablo Kang congratulated Cambodia on remarkable results of HEQIP-1, which contributes significantly to the country’s universal health coverage by 2030.

Investing in HEQIP-2, drawn on the success of the first phase, will further strengthen Cambodia’s health sector to improve lives of all Cambodians, he added.
