Two men on a motorcycle reportedly seriously wounded a former FARC combatant who was at his residence in the municipality of Tibú, in Norte de Santander, northeastern Colombia, on Sunday.

The authorities of Tibú have assured that it was “Juan Antonio Castro, a peace signatory who was in his house when two people on a motorcycle shot him twice”.

“The municipality of Tibú is requesting the support of the Military Forces and the Police to achieve the evacuation by air, due to the complications presented by the patient”, they explained.

According to statistics gathered by the Comunes party, with this attack, the number of attacked ex-combatants increases to 348. For this reason, they have called on the Government of the President of the country, Gustavo Petro, to speed up peace talks with other organizations that remain in the insurgency.

Comunes senator Sandra Ramirez has indicated that it is worrying that violence against people who bet on the peace process continues.
