Internally displaced persons (IDPs) in regions of northwestern Syria, controlled by Syrian opposition forces, fear an outbreak of cholera in their camps. IDP camps in northwestern Syria lack infrastructure and minimum necessities of a decent life, becoming a fertile environment for an epidemic. On Monday, Kafr Losin camp in the northern countryside of Idlib recorded the first three cases of cholera, in accordance to what Idlib Health Directorate announced on Monday, in addition to hundreds of cases recorded in eastern and northern Syria and areas controlled by Syrian government. Early warning program of the Support Coordination Unit, a non-governmental organization, recorded 4,100 cases of cholera, as of September 25, in Syria. Syrian Ministry of Health announced that cholera outbreaks in several areas have killed 29 people.
