Ukrainian forces repulse enemy attacks in Bakhmut and Avdiivka directions

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have repulsed enemy offensive operations in such directions as Bakhmut and Avdiivka.

The relevant statement was made by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

As of 06:00 a.m., August 24, 2022, the enemy continued to focus efforts on gaining full control over Donetsk Region, maintaining control over the occupied areas of Kherson Region, Kharkiv Region, Zaporizhzhia Region and Mykolaiv Region, and restoring the combat capacity of its units. Russian troops continue to launch air and missile strikes on civilian objects across Ukraine.

In the Volyn and Polissia direction, the situation remained rather unchanged. Belarusian forces are carrying out tasks to enhance the protection of the Ukrainian-Belarusian border in Brest Region and Gomel Region.

In the Siverskyi direction, the enemy continues to keep certain units in the border areas of Bryansk Region and Kursk Region in order to show the military presence and restrain the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Russian troops used cannon artillery to open fire near Tovstodubove, Sumy Region.

In the Slobozhanskyi direction, Russian troops are conducting hostilities to maintain the previously captured frontiers.

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian occupiers used cannon and rocket artillery to open fire near Odnorobivka, Karasivka, Borshchova, Peremoha, Ruska Lozova, Zamulivka, Bazaliivka, Pushkarne, Mospanove, Slobozhanske, Husarivka and Chepil. The enemy launched air strikes near Mospanove, Husarivka and Prudianka. Enemy forces conducted air reconnaissance with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) near Dementiivka.

In the Sloviansk direction, Russian occupiers launched artillery strikes near Krasnopillia and Mazanivka. The enemy attempted to conduct reconnaissance near Bohorodychne. Ukrainian forces inflicted fire damage to enemy units and forced them to retreat.
