As Eid al-Adha approaches, Maawaz weaving and production, a traditional Yemeni craft, increases, providing seasonal work for unemployed young men in Aden. Maawaz is a traditional fabric that covers the man’s body from the hips to the ankles and they’re worn by Yemenis on social occasions. Artisans adorn Maawaz with colorful thread, and prices range between 5,000 Yemeni rials and 100,000 rials depending on the weaving method and materials used.
