After six years of fighting, Yemeni civilians are taking advantage of a fragile ceasefire and the last weekend of the Eid Al Adha holiday by flocking to the beach in Aden. The coast of the war-torn country’s fourth largest city attracts visitors from all parts of south Yemen, where citizens complain of a lack of parks and other public facilities. Resident Muhammad Al-Babouri told A24 News Agency that Aden’s coast is the only safe outlet for people to enjoy the outdoors after the war destroyed most of the country’s parks. While enjoying the return to normalcy, beachgoers say authorities need to allocate more outdoor recreation areas and provide access at fair prices that everyone can afford.
