As civilians begin to enjoy Yemen’s fragile ceasefire- a new phenomenon has arrived in the southern port city of Aden. Roving trucks ply the streets selling shawarma and burgers and have become an instant success as the town returns to normalcy. Truck owners say they are a part of a trend of young people who are starting small businesses determined to make a living despite an economic crisis exacerbated by soaring fuel prices and an unemployment rate topping thirteen percent. Abdul Rahman Al Daboui, a restaurant owner, told A24 News Agency that his restaurant offers shawarma and burger meals with a unique taste that is popular among customers. Al Daboui thinks young people should take advantage of their free time and find work in emerging small businesses such as his. Ebadi Ahmad, a citizen, welcomes the idea of having such restaurants in Aden, saying their food is delicious and reasonably priced.
