A car bombing killed a local Yemeni journalist and two other people in Aden, in the latest incident of violence in Yemen’s southern port city.

Kaputa District Police Commander Anan Muharrami said an improvised explosive device attached to the vehicle carrying journalist named Saber Noman Al-Haidari exploded near a security checkpoint on 90th Street in Aden’s district of Mansourah.

Muharrami said the forensic investigation team and explosives specialists rushed to the scene to investigate the incident that also left another wounded. The forty-year-old Journalist worked for Xinhua, China Television in Yemen and an employee with the Yemeni Ministry of Information.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blast so far, but several Yemeni journalists had been assassinated in similar incidents, including international journalist and photographer Nabil Qati, journalist Rasha Harazi and her husband Mahmoud Atmi.

Journalists say such attacks aimed at silencing and intimidating media professionals for their important role in exposing links between terrorist groups and some parties.
