The second edition of the Oud International Festival has kicked off in the Tunisian capital, Tunis, featuring various local and international master players of the ancient stringed instrument.
The event, which runs from June 18th through June 25th, s is hosted by the Cultural Club Tahar Haddad.
The festival brings together the most accomplished oud musicians from the Arab and Islamic countries for performances of traditional and original compositions and will include a competition for young people and seminars.
The Director of the Cultural Club Tahar Haddad Siham Bentoumieh told A24 News Agency that the Festival represents an opportunity for Tunisian artists to demonstrate their Oud skills and to learn from the experiences of artists from other countries.
Necati Celik, a Turkish oud player and jury member, told A24 that the Oud is a popular musical instrument in Turkey and all over the world.
