Today, Friday, thousands of Palestinians participated in the funeral of Al-Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh, who was killed two days ago while covering the clashes in Jenin camp in the West Bank, East Jerusalem.
The funeral included confrontations that erupted when the journalist’s coffin was taken out of Saint Joseph Hospital, where the Israeli police dispersed the crowds that gathered outside the hospital.
The coffin was later taken to the Old City, where a mass was held in honor of the journalist. The Israeli police closed some of the entrances to the Old City in an attempt to reduce the number of participants in the funeral, while the crowds marched behind the coffin to the “Zion” cemetery, where the burial was carried out.
