Yemeni media professionals in Taiz condemned, in a sit-in, the killing of the Palestinian journalist and Al-Jazeera correspondent Shiree Abu Aqleh while she wearing a jacket marked with the word “press” and a helmet.

Some participants demanded the enactment of deterrent international laws that criminalize targeting journalists and provide them with protection during their duties.

The participants also recalled many Yemeni journalists who were killed during their coverage of the war in the country, without the perpetrators being held accountable. They pointed out that killing journalists intensified in various parts of the world, and they became vulnerable to multiple violations.
