Gaza local peach growers hope for rebound

Palestinian Framers said their town of Al-Fukhari in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip has provided large quantities of peach fruit to the local market at fair prices and high quality. In an interview with A24 News Agency, Suhail al-Masry, a town farmer said two thousand peach trees have already been planted on his land, hoping to produce 150 tons during this season.

He hopes to compensate for losses of damaged crops caused last year by Israel’s war and blockade on the coastal strip. Some farmers called for easing restrictions on crossings to allow exporting their production abroad while others complained of water shortage and fraudulent pesticides.

Peach is known for being one of the best summer fruits with many health benefits and could be suitable for people with diabetes and high blood pressure.
