Cambodian authorities deploy more than 1,000 security personnel ahead elections

As the Commune/Sangkat election draws closer and voters in the nation are ready to go to voting stations and vote for their preferred candidates, police and military personnel in the country are being prepared to be deployed to preserve security and social order.

Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police has deployed more than 1,000 troops to maintain security, safety and order during the 14-day election campaign, as well as before, during and after the election.

Maj. Gen. Chuon Narin told local news that the provincial police have set out a clear plan for organizing forces to protect the people and maintain security. He has chaired a meeting to review the direction of the security, safety and order plan for this important event.

According to the Major General, the Provincial Police Commission cooperates with the Provincial Armed Forces and local authorities to protect all targets and all polling stations in Preah Sihanouk.
