Turning sugarcane waste into Paper plates

A Cambodian young man has spent three years to develop recycling equipment used to recycle paper plates from sugarcane waste in efforts aim at reducing the use of plastic products.

Taing Socheat said that he provided the local market with paper plates at a lower cost on a daily basis, complaining the lack of support for his small company.

Taing, founder & managing Director for MG Pacific Company Limited, said his efforts were meant to show consumers the benefit of recycling waste and significantly reducing pollution levels. He said his craft has created more local products and jobs for people.

Mr. Sophann,a technician at the Company, said they brought and reused old equipment from a market and a car repair garage to set up their factory.Mock Channa, a seller of sugarcane juice, said he collected sugarcane waste for Socheat’s company instead of throwing it away.
