In celebration of the registration of the arts and skills of Arabic calligraphy on the Representative List of the Intangible Heritage of UNESCO, the Minister of Cultural Affairs, Dr. Hayat Katat Al Garmazi, oversaw the inauguration of an exhibition themed “Arabic Calligraphy; A Living Memory” organized by the National Heritage Institute and the Agency for Heritage Revival and Cultural Development in partnership with the Tunis Opera.

The Minister of Culture noted the existence of a study to launch the “Iqra” (Arabic for Read) project based on a proposal from the President of Tunisia, as he is fond of Arabic calligraphy.

The Iqra project is a center for calligraphy arts, especially Arabic calligraphy and ancient languages, which will be located next to the City of Culture, and will be a global center in partnership with UNESCO.
