Battambang, Cambodia – The MISOTA company is specialized in the processing and distribution of tropical dried fruits and food products for local and export markets. It was founded by a Cambodian couple in 2017.
The company has provided job opportunities to the local communities in the Battambang province. Its work and achievements have lured in donors who want to support the company to be able to export Cambodian products to international markets and expand the business in the future.
Mr. TAN Michel, who is the founder of MISOTA, said that he aspires to promote the Khmer products, adding that there are not many companies that specialize in the field of fruit processing in the country. He said that the company’s end goal is to make the world familiar with Cambodian fruits.
Michel seemed optimistic about the progress and success of his company in the international market, saying that his MISOTA has secured international accreditations, including ISO 22000 and ISO 9001.
The USAID-funded project Feed the Future (FtF) Cambodia Harvest II has supported the leading company, particularly in the technology field.
It helped to connect the company with farmers and guide them on how to grow safely and use chemical fertilizers to meet the standards, according to the founder.
MISOTA also helps farmers who are struggling to find markets for their crops.
“Pineapples’ market has never been stable. When pineapples are plentiful, I sell them cheaply, but when there are not many pineapples on the market, I raise my price. I got to know MISOTA in 2019, and my yield was sold at a good price and was stable because we signed a contract with this company,” said farmer Lay Moav.
“We help the business, but we are also sure that we also help the farmers and other people because our project has put out a new job creation plan for MISOTA. Our project also helps to connect the company with the international buyers, like USA, France, and some European countries,” said Ith Kallyan, Deputy Chief of Party for FtF Cambodia Harvest II.
Quality Check Supervisor of MISOTA, Chheang Sreymom, confirmed that her company provides customers with high-quality products that follow hygiene standards.
