Emirgan Park is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in Istanbul, and one of the largest public parks, as it extends over an area of 47000 square meters.
The park contains more than 120 species of rare trees and plants, and various types of flowers, most notably lavender and tulips, for which annual festivals are held in the park.
In the spring, the park turns into an important tourist destination because of the tulip fields. Turks consider tulip part of their culture, as they were the ones who brought it from its original homeland in Central Asia to the Anatolia region, and from there it spread to various parts of the world.
