The Mekong River suddenly rose without warning causing the boat operator in Nong Khai Province to be swept away by the tide. Fortunately, there were no injuries or deaths, preliminary damage of more than 2 million baht.

At about 4:30 p.m. on March 13, 2022, the Mekong water suddenly rose up causing the boat rafts of the Hai Sok temple operators to be swept away by the Mekong River. Rescuers surveyed a sunken raft in the Mekong River before cutting the ropes and salvaging the wrecks ashore.

On March 13, a strong and rapid current swept away their property into the Mekong River. The damage value is approximately 2 million baht. People suspected that this risen in water level was caused by the release of water from a dam that blocks the Mekong River without notification to the people of the Mekong River Basin (under the dam) causing more water flow through Nong Khai Province.

Meanwhile, the Mekong water level in Nong Khai province today was measured at the Nong Khai Hydrological Section at 2.64 meters, an increase of 0.08 meters from yesterday, 9.56 meters below the bank.
